Shakira accuses ex Gerard Piqué of ‘pulling her down,’ demonstrates her resilience, strength in music video for her new track

14:25, March 27

Shakira demonstrated her resilience and strength in the music video for her new track. The 47-year-old award-winning artist released Entre Paréntesis, featuring Grupo Frontera, from her 12th studio album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.

In the music video directed by Mike Ho, Shakira gets to work at a car repair shop before performing with her band. Having invited one of the spectators to the stage, she takes part in a fiery dance number.

Last week, the singer released the music video for Cardi B's "Puntería," which has already been viewed more than 6.5 million times.

The album has amassed 6.4 billion streams worldwide, and it demonstrates the power of music to transform even the most difficult experiences into precious moments.

"Shakira's voice sometimes reaches a peak where it feels like it might bend and crack, but doesn't—and the result is an inner growl that's raw and magnetic," Variety wrote in a glowing review of the album.

Last night, Shakira was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

During the show, she accused her ex-boyfriend Gerard Piqué of "pulling her down" while discussing why her new album took so long to make.

“I wrote songs here and there, but it was very difficult for me to put all the work together,” Shakira said. “It was because of my husband. Now I'm without a husband. Yes, my husband was pulling me down. Now I am free. Now I can actually work."

Shakira was on The Tonight Show also to promote her new album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.
