Rebel Wilson hopes to help young people feel empowered when it comes to sex and intimacy by revealing that she lost her virginity at the age of 35.

"Not everyone has to lose their virginity as a teenager," the actress told People, talking about her upcoming memoir, Rebel Rising. "People can wait until they're ready or wait until they're ready for it."

Wilson said she details her personal experiences in the memoir and believes it "could be a positive message" for others. "Obviously you don't have to wait until you're thirty like I did, but you shouldn't feel pressured to be young people,” she said. Calling herself a "late bloomer," Wilson said she lied to her friends that she "just did it to get it over with" when she was 20, or simply left the room when the topic came up. If she had been born 20 years later, Wilson said, she “probably would have explored my sexuality more.”

“I just knew that I was attracted to men, and that was normal. And only years later, dating women and having feelings for a woman...I think that's a sign of where society was,” she said. 

Today, the Australian actress has nothing to hide. In February 2023, Wilson became engaged to fashion designer Ramona Agruma at Disneyland. And last November, she became a mother with the help of a surrogate mother. Rebel Rising will be released on April 2.
