Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito was so broke at one point in his career that he considered hiring a hitman to kill himself for insurance to provide for his children.
The 65-year-old actor has been working in Hollywood for many years, but he received his most recognizable role only in 2008, thanks to his role as Gus Fring in the TV series Breaking Bad. Before he got this part, Giancarlo was close to bankruptcy. The actor spoke about this difficult time on an episode of SiriusXM's Jim & Sam podcast.
According to him, that's when he started thinking about insurance fraud. “I thought if I had been hit by a car, it would have been an accidental death, [my children] would have received insurance. I have four children. I wanted them to have a decent life. It was a difficult period. I literally thought about self-destruction so they could survive. That's how low I've fallen."
However, the actor changed his mind after realizing the pain his death would cause to his family and children.
