First ever Robert De Niro Festival to be held in New York

15:26, May 9

The first ever Robert De Niro Festival will take place in New York, from June 14 to 16. The event will pay tribute, through special screenings, panels and exhibitions, to the 80-year-old movie legend.

The Tribeca Film Festival, which runs from June 5 to 16, is expected to feature Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Christopher Walken, Whoopi Goldberg, John Turturro, David O. Russell, Nas, and more.

“I can think of no better way to celebrate the 80th birthday of Robert De Niro, my dear friend and colleague for the past 35 years, than with a big celebration for his fellow New Yorkers,” said Tribeca Film Festival CEO Jane Rosenthal.

“From conversations with legends like Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino and David O. Russell to experiences with fans, this will be a truly historic weekend as we pay tribute to great talent,” Rosenthal continued.

Billy Crystal, who co-starred with the two-time Oscar winner in the 1999 movie Analyze This, called his co-star an "acting icon." “He is one of my closest friends, and working with him was one of the greatest experiences of my career. I’m thrilled to honor him and his fantastic career this June.”
