Newly unearthed school photos of Kanye West, 37, and Jay Z, 44, show that prior to their fame and fortunes, these song artists opted for preppy, clean-cut vibes, Daily mail reported.

Jay Z was pictured in 8th grade circa 1983 at Eugenio Maria De Hostos Intermediate School in Brooklyn, New York, sitting in the front row of his class photo. Appearing shy, singer is in a graduation gown and loafers, patiently sitting with his hands clasped in his lap while flashing a subtle smile.

Meanwhile, Kanye never seemed to have qualms about flashing his pearly whites, seen smiling in collared button-down blouse for his 1993 sophomore year photo at Polaris School for Individual Education in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

Today, the musicians can be caught in edgier clothing, layered with chained necklaces and other flashy jewels.
