Sharon Stone and her family is mourning the loss of her nephew Colin, who was found dead earlier this month from a suspected heroin overdose.

On Wednesday, the 22-year-old' s family released a statement remembering the 'wonderful' young man.

'Colin was a wonderful talented son,' the family told Us Weekly. 'Unfortunately he had an addiction bigger than himself. He will be greatly missed.

'Our prayers go out to all families coping with children facing addiction.'

Radar reported that Colin was found dead in his Hollywood apartment during a welfare check by his apartment manager on November 10.

The L.A. County Coroner's office spokesman told the site that his death was recorded as a 'possible overdose, pending toxicology reports.'

A family insider said. 'Sharon is devastated. Years ago, she helped Colin’s dad – her brother, Michael – get his life back on track after serving time for selling narcotics.'

The 63-year-old, who is seven years older than Sharon, did two years for possession of a kilo of cocaine.

'Michael was able to escape a life of drugs,' the source said. 'Unfortunately, his son was not.'

Sharon helped Michael out with a role in her 1995 western, The Quick And The Dead.

The Basic Instinct actress wasn't in the U.S. when the statement was released. She is presently in Paris, where she has been for the past week.

She had just finished filming Life On The Line with John Travolta when she got the news.
