The Cut, un film génialement raté by Europe1fr
German-Turkish filmmaker Fatih Akin’s controversial film entitled The Cut, which is about the Armenian Genocide, was premiered in French theaters last week.
French and German Green Party member Daniel Marc Cohn-Bendit, who was co-president of the group European Greens–European Free Alliance in the European Parliament, spoke to Europe 1 radio of France, and expressed his views on this movie.
“It’s a very good film, which tells about the [Armenian] Genocide and its horrors.
“But the important thing is that the film was screened in Istanbul, Ankara, and [several] other cities in Turkey. Naturally, the [Turkish] extremists made a few critical remarks, but they were not so significant. They [ in Turkey,] began speaking about the film, which already is a positive step. Turkey is very far from democracy, but it is going in the right direction when it is studying its history in connection with the Armenians and the Kurds.
“Incidentally, famous Turkish actors declined from playing in this film with a great scenario, since they were afraid to be shot in this type of film.
“Overall, I liked the film, but it seemed something was missing; something was said incompletely. I believe Fatih Akin’s film was a brilliant failure, since it could have been better,” Cohn-Bendit specifically said.
