Famous Model Tanisha Harper about Her Participation in Project Runway and Similarities with Naomi Campbell

12:08, October 6

Some fashion fans have discovered the beautiful model Tanisha Harper in 2008, when she participated in Project Runway. This is a project hosted by Heidi Klum and aiming to find talented designers.

During the project Tanisha was mainly paired with Althea Harper, who finished the second at the end.

We have had an exclusive interview with Tanisha Harper, where the beauty speaks about her modeling career and comparisons with Naomi Campbell

-Tanisha, I know, that your modeling career started after you were discovered at a shopping mall. I wonder, before that, have you ever dreamed of becoming a model?

-Before being discovered at a shopping mall, I had dreamed of being a fashion designer. As a young girl I learned to sew from my grandmother. And every summer, when I came took visit, we would pick an outfit from Vogue magazine or Teen magazine and make a similar version of it. I looked forward to that every year and through that experience had my heart set on being a fashion designer.

-Has modeling somehow changed your life?

-Modeling has changed my life in that it taught me to be financially responsible and take care of myself from a young age. It also provided me with confidence to be independent and give me the opportunity to travel the world and learn.

-Many people remember you from Project Runway/Models. If I'm not mistaken, some designers saw some similarities between you and Naomi Campbell. How do you feel about this comparison?

-I believe many of the comparisons and/or similarities people saw between Naomi Campbell and I are our eyes, our runway walks and how we carry ourselves. She is one of the most iconic models ever and am honored that people saw some of her traits in me.

-You finished second in the show. Has your participation in this project somehow affected on your career?

-The show gave me great exposure as it allowed clients to see not just how I pose or walk but my personality as well which led to many TV and film opportunities.

-With which brands do you collaborate now?

-I work often with a brand called Chagoury couture and Laer brand.

-During the show you were mostly paired with Althea Harper. Do you still keep in touch together?

-We worked together at events a few times after the show. But I now mainly keep in touch with Althea through social media! She has a beautiful family now and seems like a great mother all while maintaining her design career. I hope to actually see her again in person soon!

-I remember that during the show Heidi Klum was having some meetings with models, giving them some advice. Do you remember what was her most important advice for you?

-I don't remember Heidi's advice specifically but the most important advice I've heard about modeling is to always stay true to yourself, love yourself and be happy with who you are as a person. Many models change themselves to be what they think the industry wants to see.

-Besides modeling you have also participated in some television series. Do you have any news?

-I have an exciting TV project in the works at the moment. Looking forward to being able to share it soon!

-What's your main advice to all the girls who are dreaming to become a model?

-Don't succumb to pressure to be or act in a way that makes you uncomfortable or goes against your values. Be true to yourself. That's what the world wants to see.
