The reason why Michael Douglas played Benjamin Franklin in the new Apple TV+ series is quite corny: tights.

The 79-year-old actor said he joined the cast of Franklin because he was "at a point in my career where I'm trying different things."  “I wanted to see what I looked like in tights,” he joked, adding that the liability suit was the show’s “original appeal.”  Douglas added that playing one of America's Founding Fathers, whom he called "a bit of a scoundrel," was a great opportunity that included a "wonderful cast."
