The Cafesjian Center for the Arts Announces the Opening of the Exhibition Friedensreich Hundertwasser: Regentag

15:47, March 19

The exhibition presents the “Regentag” portfolio comprised of ten silk prints by the renowned Austrian artist Friedensreich Hunderwasser.

Artist, architect and visionary ecologist Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928-2000) is undeniably one of the most vibrant and controversial characters of the 20th century post-war art, whose cultural vision was a revolt against the increasing threats of human society, and his art was the gateway to a more beautiful world in harmony with nature.

“The Regentag portfolio (Look at it on a Rainy Day) from the Gerard L. Cafesjian Collection is one of Hundertwasser’s featured works composed of ten silk prints. With their innovative and meticulous execution technique, the works on exhibit illustrate the artist’s distinctive style of radiant colors and biomorphic decorative shapes. The Armenian art community will have a unique opportunity to discover one of the greatest visionaries of the 20th century”, said Vahagn Marabyan, the Acting Executive Director of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts.

On the same day the Encounters with Art event will feature the opening of Regentag exhibition. The preview of the exhibition will be followed by a screening of the Oscar nominated documentary Hundertwasser’s Regentag by Peter Schamoni, offering an insight to the exciting character of the artist. Permission for the free screening of the film has been granted by the SCHAMONI FILM & MEDIEN GmbH gratis. The Hundertwasser Non-Profit Foundation made generous support by providing photographs of the artist and other related materials for the execution of the exhibition.  The admission to the event is free, by invitations only.

The exhibition Friedensreich Hundertwasser: Regentag  will be free of charge on March 21 and will last till June 15, 2014.

The Cafesjian Center for the Arts (CCA) is dedicated to bringing the best of contemporary art to Armenia and presenting the best of Armenian culture to the world.
