YEREVAN. – The path that leads to the Armenian Genocide Memorial, in capital city Yerevan, becomes most packed on every April 24.
On that day, people visit the memorial to pay tribute to the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide in 1915.
Thousands of flowers are placed and candles are lit near the monument that eternalizes the Genocide victims, thus keeping the eternal flame.
The monument’s 44-meter-high column symbolizes the rebirth of the Armenians.
An eternal fire burns, at the center of the circle comprising twelve stone columns, and in memory of the Genocide victims.
The park around the memorial has a 100-meter-long wall, on which the names are carved out of the best-known cities and villages that were subjected to the massacres.
