FBI Special Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, characters, played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, are to get another chance in a reboot of The X-Files.
Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman today confirmed that the network is in very early talks for a new installment of Chris Carter’s iconic cult drama that ran from 1993 to 2002.
The possibility of a limited series, similar to Fox's 24: Live Another Day, was raised during a Q&A at Fox’s portion of the Television Critics Association press tour in Pasadena, California, according to Variety.
'It’s true that we’ve had some conversations on X-Files,' Gary said. 'We’re hopeful of being able to bring that back at some point.'
Later, fellow Fox TV Group chairman Dana Walden confirmed that a reboot would reunite David, 54, and Gillian, 46, adding they had not had creative discussions about the shape or direction of the possible new series.
The hit series also spawned two spin-off films, The X-Files in 1998 and and The X-Files: I want To Believe in 2008.
