After America’s Got Talent I’ve Become More Popular: Vard Margaryan’s Photo shoot for NEWS.am STYLE

11:17, June 2

Young and talented dancer Vard Margaryan became very popular in Armenia and in the world especially after his participation in America’s Got Talent, where his co-partner was Tao Porchon-Lynch (96). They managed to capture not only the famous jury members of the show, but also the TV viewers from all over the world.

The talented dancer is now in Armenia and we took the opportunity of having another interview with Vard. The dancer also poses specially for NEWS.am STYLE.

-Vard, what brought you to Armenia?

-I always try to find some time from my busy routine and come to Armenia in order to see my family and friends. This year I have a very special and important event. It’s my brother’s wedding. That is why I’m here now.

-How long are you going to stay in Armenia? How do you plan to spend your time here?

-I’m here for almost two weeks. Here I spend most of my time with my friends.

-OK, let’s speak about your news. During our last interview you have mentioned that together with your friend Eduard Sargsyan you’re going to open a dance studio in LA. So, how is everything going on?

-We are still in the working process. We’re planning to open an Armenian academic studio in order to develop all the styles of dancing.

-Do you feel that your life has kinda changed after your participation in America’s Got Talent?

-After that project more people got to know me, which helps me to lead a more successful career in USA.

-And what about your partner, Tao Porchon-Lynch? Are you still in touch?

-Yes, we still collaborate with each other. She lives in New York now, and I live in California. Recently we’ve got an invitation to participate in Got Talent’s opening show in France.

-After your performance, a lot of people admired how careful you were with Tao. Was it easy to dance with her?

-Yes, it was very easy to work with her. My coach skills also helped me, because as a coach I always deal with people of any ages. In this job you have to be not only a dancer but also a psychologist and doctor to understand what methods you should carry on for this or that movement.

-What other dancing collaborations are you going to realize in the near future?

-You know, I mostly have collaborations with foreign dancers. They always invite me to take part in different shows and I mix the Armenian dancing skills with other styles which makes my own style unique and that’s why people appreciate it.

-Do you follow Armenian dancers? What can you say about them?

-Recently I was present at State Dance Ensemble’s concert in Yerevan. I was so excited that even wanted to go on stage and dance with them. I’m always ready to help with my advice and share my skills with Armenian dancers.

-Vard, years ago you moved to USA in order to be engaged with dancing. What is dancing for you?

-It is one of the most important meanings of my life. I have been engaged with dancing due to my mother and now I live and breathe with dancing. It is like a spiritual food for me, it helps me in any situations. Due to dancing I remained strong and could make a career in USA . On the whole, I have two hobbies in my life. One of them is dancing, the other is horse-riding.

I have studied all the styles of dancing. You know why I am so popular in USA in the sphere of Latin dances? Because I mix all the dancing styles in one dance.

-Can we say that you communicate with the language of movements more easily?

-Yes, I don’t consider myself a technically good dancer, but people like my shows because I think I manage to show them my feelings through the dance.

-Which famous dancers have inspired you when you started your career?

-Since I was a child I was inspired by my teacher Irina Sarukhanyan. When I moved to USA, I got to know John Halon, who unfortunately is not with us today, but he has inspired me a lot.

-What do you think-People should be born to be dancers or they can achieve dancing skills with the help of tough work?

-First of all a person should have dancing skills and desire to develop it. It’s important to be able to feel the music. You should clearly know what you want to pass through the music.

-What do you think-what qualities should a good dance coach have?

-Everyone can be a coach, but not all of them can reach a good result with their students. The career of the coach should be on a good level so that people could rely on him. But sometimes we see a different thing. A lot of good dancers don’t manage to become good coaches as well.  Before starting my lesson I usually think what I would like to be taught, if I were a student? First of all I try to realize why do they need me, and only after that I start my lesson. And as I have already mentioned, a good coach should also be a good psychologist.

-Vard, what if there was no dancing in the world?...

-I think I would create it…
