YEREVAN. – Renowned Hollywood actor Sir Michael Caine’s brief visit to Armenia is extensively discussed on the Internet, for the past two days.
NEWS.am STYLE has already informed about Caine dining at Dolmama Restaurant, in downtown Yerevan.
It turns out, however, that he also had visited the Geghard Monastery, and the Hovhannavank Monastery where he enjoyed the performances by Geghard Choir.
“We didn’t know beforehand about his visit to Armenia, and this proposal [to sing at Hovhannavank] was a big surprise for us, too,” choir member Anahit Papayan told NEWS.am STYLE. “The opportunity was certainly exceptional and unbelievable. We performed two [Armenian church] hymns (…) as well as two [Armenian] folk songs (…).
“Michael Caine was recording everything, he was recording every second. We can assume from his ecstatic reaction that he highly appreciated our culture.
“We also took pictures together, and this day will remain vivid in our recollections.”
In addition, Papayan provided exclusive photos from Michael Caine’s visit to the Hovhannavank Monastery.
