Sylvester Stallone buys famous Rocky statue for $400K

11:03, December 28

Sylvester Stallone, 71, adds famous Rocky statue to his personal collection for $400K,
sources told TMZ.

The statue - which stands at nine-feet-tall and weighs 1,800 pounds - was a backup produced for the 1982 installment in the boxing anthology, Rocky III, and produced by A. Thomas Schomberg, the sculptor who made the original figure, which stands in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Sylvester Stallone, 71, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, 70, posed together at Sly's LA home in front of a backup statue of Rocky made for Rocky III.

The statue Sly bought was being kept at the now-defunct San Diego Hall of Champions, but the museum closed its doors this past summer. The valuable piece of movie memorabilia was subsequently put on sale by the auctioneer SCP Auctions.

A company rep told the outlet that a customer in Los Angeles purchased the statue, which was prominently displayed in the background of a Christmas Day shot Stallone took with pal Arnold Schwarzenegger and shared on on Instagram.

'Well look who [dropped] by on Christmas!' Stallone wrote. '@schwarzenegger always fills the room with positive energy!'
