Beyonce and Jay-Z obtain restraining order preventing fake merchandise being sold outside concertsThe couple, who according to Forbes are now worth over $1B, want to make sure fans fork out for their officially licensed gear, as opposed to snagging any cheap stuff in the carpark.
According to TMZ, Three Ten Merchandising Services got a restraining order ahead of the upcoming On The Run II show at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
In the documents, the company said it wanted to give local authorities the right to immediately seize any knockoff OTR2 merchandise on the spot.
Otherwise, they said separate civil lawsuits would have to be filed, which would cost at least $450k in legal fees.
The company claimed that bootleggers have already manufactured bogus tour gear, and this is their only means to put a stop to it.
They also cited other headlining acts who have successfully applied for similar orders, including Pink, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga.
The judge agreed, and granted the order.
On The Run II T-shirts start at $40 on the official website.
Unofficial shirts sold outside the venue typically sell for between $5 and $10.
After circling Europe, the tour's North America leg got under way on July 25 in Cleveland, Ohio.
They are set to play 30 dates, finishing in Seattle on October 4.
