There are large range of variations in the combination of beverages with snacks, but there are those that simply can not leave you indifferent. Have you even eaten caviar with potato chips? No? The you have missed quite a lot.
HarpersBazaar published an article, highlighting another quite interesting combination - a glass of champagne with ... french fries!
According to Marie-Christine Osselin, Moët & Chandon’s wine quality and communication manager, “the saltiness and crunchiness of french fries are the perfect complement to champagne’s fine bubbles and zesty acidity.”
The source also noted, that one shouldn’t pairing the next glass with an order of cheese fries.
“Champagne is a wine that asks for simple ingredients, no more than three,” she said.
According to the source, one of the most famous appetizers at New Orleans' Sylvain is the order of Champagne and French Fries, which goes for either $50 or $90 for a small or large serving.
Food & Wine’s longtime wine editor Ray Isle also agrees.
“Basically, salt and fat plus high acid and bubbles equals a great combo,” the editor noted.
