Jamie Davis performs in Yerevan (PHOTOS)

21:33, April 5

Jamie Davis, one of the most famous jazz vocalists in the US, gave a concert on Friday in Yerevan with the Armenian State Jazz Orchestra (conductor and artistic director Armen Hyusnunts). The maestro literally fascinated the audience with his warm music and brilliant voice. The music influence was strong in their family as both his parents were musicians, while brothers and sisters sang in the church choir. So to become the musician for Jamie Davis was something given.

In an interview to NEWS.am STYLE, he has revealed that his idols were and still is his father and Martin Luther King. According to him, he is very religious so his parents at first were cautious of his professional choice. Over the years, he became an icon of classic American jazz being called Jamie "the chocolate-voiced baritone” or “the sugar voice”. In 1975, Jamie settled in San Francisco to actively cooperate with Milt Jackson, Eddie Henderson, Dave Lieberman, Melba Moore, Allen Smith, Vernon Alley, Pharoah Saunders and others. In 2000, Jamie Davis had its famous performance with the Count Basie Orchestra in Davis and won the highest praise and well-deserved public recognition.

Yerevan music lovers also fell in love with him and did not want to leave the hall for a long time: it seems that he knows how to sink into the soul even to those who are not particularly interested in jazz. By the way, Davis has an excellent sense of humor. “I'm about spreading Love everywhere I go, looking forward to doing just that,” he told NEWS.am STYLE. And that’s what he did tonight…spreading love and passion in the small hall of the Union of Architects building in Yerevan…
