This Country star, British actress Daisy May Cooper came to the BAFTA award in a bin bag dress, The Independent reported.
The ceremony took place on Sunday, May 12. The 33-year-old actress appeared in a black dress with an open shoulder, completely made of plastic bags. The long hem of the dress was decorated with the contents of a garbage can: sewn packaging for food, household chemicals and other waste. Cooper completed her outfit with a hat that looked like a metal lid from a trash can and a bag in the form of a small trash can.
"I wanted people to say, 'Oh what are you wearing? Gucci?' No, just bin bags,” she said.
Cooper added that her mother grouped together with her friends to create the dress and that she donated the money she would have spent on a “normal” red carpet dress to her local food bank.
The BAFTA Prize is an award given by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, an independent British charitable organization formed on April 16, 1947 under the direction of David Lean. The symbol of the award is the golden mask.
