Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, made his position clear on US ban of abortion at the brand’s latest fashion show in Rome, The Guardian reported.
Women “should be free to choose what they want and terminate a pregnancy ... [It] is the most difficult choice for a woman to make and I respect that choice,” he told reporters at a post-show press conference at the Palazzo Nouveau museum.
The standout piece was a long silk dress featuring a flower growing inside a uterus depicted by embroidery.
Gucci, together with Salma Hayek and Beyoncé, founded Chime for change, a non-profit organization that collects funds to help women fight for gender equality. The brand also finances various projects in support of sexual and reproductive rights, maternal health and freedom of individual choice around the world.
Earlier, American top model Emily Ratajkowski showed off almost speaking out against the law banning abortions in Alabama, US. The model was posing, covering her breasts with hands.
