Joker: Jared Leto ‘upset’ by new Joaquin Phoenix movie

12:14, October 11

Jared Leto was reportedly “alienated and upset” by the new Joker movie starring Joaquin Phoenix, Hollywood reporter said.

Leto, who played the DC villain in 2016 film Suicide Squad, was said to be unhappy when Todd Phillips’s new film was announced.

'The Irishman' helmer initially was involved as a producer on the DC villain blockbuster and may even have eyed it to direct.

Leto was brutally criticized for the Joker, considering the interpretation of the hero too superficial.

“Tsujihara and Emmerich greenlit Joker, which cost less than $70 million, leaving Jared Leto — who played Joker in Suicide Squad — alienated and upset by the move,” the source noted.
