The nominations for BAFTA 2020 (“the British Oscars”) have been revealed, and Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman” (screenplay by Steven Zaillian) is among the top contenders in the Best Film category.

Among the other contenders are the films “Joker”, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”, “1917” and “Parasite”. Sam Mendes, Todd Phillips, Martin Scorsese, Bong Joon-ho and Quentin Tarantino are nominated for Best Director.

American filmmaker Todd Phillips’ film “Joker” is in the lead with the number of nominations for the grand prize. The nominations were announced in London, and “Joker” may win in 11 categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor.
