Philipp Plein dedicated his collection to Kobe Bryant, but something went wrong

14:55, February 25

Philipp Plein showcased his fall/winter 2020 collection during the Milan Fashion Week. The collection was a tribute to basketball legend Kobe Bryant who was killed in a helicopter crash in January, Page Six Style reported

Basketball fans criticized the collection of purple-and-gold hoodies and jerseys with the Lakers legend’s number 24 on them. The designer earned justified ire of both fashion critics. In addition, Philipp Plein made two gold helicopters for his show, which made fans furious.

Plein said the funds raised from the sales of this capsule collection will got to Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation that was founded by the basketball legend’s family after his demise. However, the designer was accused of using Kobe’s name for his goals.

“Philipp Plein made two gold helicopters for his show today, which falls 27 days after Kobe died in a helicopter crash,” one Twitter user wrote. “BUT DONT WORRY he whipped up a bunch of Swarovski Kobe jerseys (with “Plein” written on them??) so it’s cool. F—k you, Philipp.”

The fans agreed that designer’s behavior was disgusting․
