The UK rapper Ty (Ben Chijioke) has died of COVID-19 aged 48, The Guardian reported.
A fundraiser said Ty was “admitted into the hospital with medical complications related to Covid-19. Shortly after, he was put in a medically induced coma to temporarily sedate to help his body receive the appropriate treatment”.
Chijioke was born in London to a family of immigrants from Nigeria. He has released five albums. One of them, released in 2003, Upwards, was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize music award for the best album in the UK and Ireland. The rapper's latest album, A Work of Heart, was released in 2018.
