Mexicans accuse Zara of cultural appropriation

16:11, July 10

Zara has removed their new clutch from the Mexican market amid pressure from angry consumers who said it looks exactly like those Mexicans use to carry groceries, however at a higher price, WWD reported

“This is a damned cultural appropriation,” said one user. “Do you realize this is a copy of hundreds of Mexican artisans’ work? Apart from this, the price. A humiliation for them as they are selling for 100 times more. At #Zara go to hell.”

Mexican bags are being sold at 40 pesos, or $1.75, versus Zara’s $30 version.
