Sebu commemorates Armenian Genocide victims sharing new song

18:24, April 24

Armenian-American singer, the member of the famous band Capital Cities, Sebu has shared the song Killer’s Baby commemorating the victims of 1915 Genocide.

“The KilIer’s Baby is a song in which I imagine losing my father and then meeting the offspring of his killer.

Would I be filled with rage and seek vengeance? Or would I forgive?

1915 may seem like a long time ago, but it isn’t.

My grandpa was just 3 years old then. That’s only two generations ago. The men in his family were killed, including his father. He was separated from his mother. He survived in orphanages in Syria and Lebanon. No family. He searched for his mother for 20 years until he found her in Istanbul.

All four of my grandparents’ families were driven out from different ancestral Western Armenian towns that are now engulfed by modern day Turkey.

Today’s Armenians have inherited the damage and trauma of genocide. Turks have inherited the burden of accountability. We can’t forgive and there can be no closure without an apology and reparations. Sadly, the Turks have denied the truth and evaded justice. Worse. They continue the never ending genocide 106 years on. Except now, rebranded as Azeris, they use suicide drones and white phosphorus,” he noted.
