An American TV star may be in trouble with the law over an ancient Roman statue that was smuggled out of Italy in 2016.
According to the Daily Mail, in 2016, an ancient Roman statue dated to the 1st or 2nd century AD was illegally removed from Italy. It represents the lower half of the female figure - a fragment of the Samian Athena Miron.
They tried to import the statue into the United States at a time when Kardashian and her husband Kanye West began large-scale renovations in their mansion. And Vervoordt then collaborated with them.
Kardashian now denies her involvement in smuggling. She says that she did not buy the statue and generally found out about its existence only now.
The exact cost of the sculpture is unknown, but it was part of a batch of antiques, modern furniture and décor items worth $ 745,000. Vervoordt said that he acquired the valuable item in 2012, but the US authorities are confident that another statue, obtained illegally, was imported into the country. Now Italy is demanding that she be returned to her homeland.
