Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were outraged by the BBC's publication that they allegedly did not ask for Queen Elizabeth's permission to name her daughter by her childhood household nickname Lilibet. 

The report included a statement from a spokesperson for the Californian couple. According to it, the Duke spoke to his family prior to the public announcement. His grandmother was the first family member he called. During this conversation, he told her about his desire to name his daughter Lilibet in her honor. If she had not supported this decision, they would not have used this name.

The British broadcaster has been under fire all this year by the British royal family. This is the second high-profile scandal involving the channel. An independent investigation concluded last month that former TV reporter Martin Bashir had tricked Harry's mother, Princess Diana, into a controversial 1995 interview with fabricated documents.  Which subsequently led to tragic consequences.
