Prince Andrew could face £14m in damages if he loses sex assault case

13:18, August 16

Recently, the sex scandal around Prince Andrew broke out with new force.

Virginia Giuffre (Roberts), who previously accused Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell of selling her for sexual exploitation, has filed a lawsuit against the member of the British royal family.

New details have become known. The Daily Mail reports that the victim, who accuses Andrew of sexual harassment when she was 17, demands £14 million ($19million) from the prince.

Top US civil lawyer Spencer Kuvin, who represents several of Epstein's victims, agrees with that amount.

'To punish someone worth a billion dollars you have got to hit them in their pockets and punish them accordingly,” he told the Daily Mirror.

While the royal family tries not to proceed with the case, Andrew denies everything, saying that he does not know Virginia at all. However, photos were found in which the prince and the then 17-year-old Giuffre were photographed together.

At the same time, the American lawyers of Virginia are ready to proceed with the case, but according to the newspaper, the respective court hearing could still be five years away.

“It would not surprise me if it took a minimum five years to appear before a jury—and that is if Andrew's legal team do not get the case dismissed,” Kuvin said.
