On the eve it became known that the first edition of the book by J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was sold at auction for 471 thousand dollars, Reuters reported.

This is not only the most expensive Harry Potter book ever sold, but also the most expensive commercially published 20th century fiction ever sold, said Joe Maddalena, executive vice president of Heritage Auctions.

This is a 1997 hardcover edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone with color art on the cover. In such a binding, the work was printed in an edition of 500 copies.
