According to the announcement posted on the official Instagram page of Miss Universe Pageant, the winner will be awarded during the award ceremony to be held on March 16, 2022 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The organizers say they will announce the details of the show soon, GraziaMagazine reports.

Later, Page Six’s reporters found out that the final of Miss Universe had been canceled since 23 of the participating girls had tested positive for COVID-19. “They lost millions due to the expenses for the Pageant,” the source told reporters. According to the source, it’s $5,000,000.

Reporters contacted the Pageant’s official representative, and the latter confirmed the news about the loss of significant funds, but fell short of clarifying the amount. “Everyone’s safety comes first for us, even if it entails additional expenses,” the representative said.
