Village Roadshow Studios has launched a sequel to 2009's "Law Abiding Citizen."
Gerard Butler will return as producer of the thriller.
The first film was about Shelton's fight against the judicial system, whose mistake almost got away with murdering the main character's daughter and wife. Once in prison, the hero issues an ultimatum: either his conditions will be met, or he will continue to kill without leaving his cell. Soon, people do begin to die, and attorney Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx) takes over the case.
The script is kept secret - it was written by the author of the first film, Kurt Wimmer. The director's name and estimated release date are not disclosed. "Law Abiding Citizen" managed to become a modest box office hit, earning a worldwide total of $127 million (on a $50 million budget).
