The Prince Charles Charitable Foundation partnered with family of notorious terrorist

17:00, July 31

Prince Charles seems to be in serious trouble. The fact is that recently the tabloids wrote that the charitable foundation of a member of the royal family accepts money from dubious personalities. So, the day before, The Times reported that the organization received 1 million pounds (about 75 billion rubles) from a relative of the former leader of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden.

The source says that in 2013, the prince personally met at his London residence Clarence House with businessman Bakr bin Laden, who headed the large construction conglomerate Binladin Group. The advisers of Prince Charles urged him to refuse donations from his half-brother Osama bin Laden, but the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II did not follow their advice.

Some employees believed that this cooperation could negatively affect the reputation of the royal family, but Prince Charles believed otherwise: it seemed to him that the return of funds to Bakr bin Laden would be a shameful step.

And the head of the Prince Charles Charitable Foundation, Ian Cheshire, said that the consent to receive donations from the bin Laden family was fully approved by several people, including financier Amelia Fawcett, former chairman of the board of directors of BT telecommunications company Michael Reik, former head of Barclays bank John Varley and chief personal secretary to the heir to the throne, William Nye. At the same time, Varley, according to the publication, during the discussion of this topic openly indicated his concern about his willingness to accept charitable contributions from Bakr bin Laden.
