Bank of England presents samples of new banknotes with portrait of Charles III (PHOTO)

14:32, December 21

The British royal family presented the design of new banknotes, which are likely to come into circulation in mid-2024.

Samples of the banknotes were published on the monarch's official page on the social network Instagram.

"Today, The Bank of England has unveiled designs for new bank notes featuring His Majesty The King. They are expected to enter circulation in the UK by mid-2024," the published photo reads.

The monarch's image on banknotes is a relatively new practice, unlike coins on which the image of the monarch has appeared since the VIII century. The portrait of the monarch first appeared on banknotes in 1960, making Charles III the second monarch to appear on British banknotes.
