Hailey Bieber talks about post-traumatic stress disorder after surviving microstroke

11:29, January 9

Hailey Bieber revealed on The Run Through with Vogue podcast that she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder after suffering a microstroke last year.

According to the model, she was afraid that what happened could happen again and couldn't shake the anxiety: "I struggled with a lot of anxiety after. I struggled with a little bit of PTSD just like the fear of maybe it was gonna happen again," she explained. "It was just a feeling that I was, like, I never want to experience that ever again. I mean, it was so terrifying, so jarring, so discombobulating in every single way that you could imagine," the model revealed on the podcast.

Hailey confessed that for a while she couldn't even go near Palm Springs, California, where it all happened, because she was overcome with frightening memories. But she noted that if it hadn't been for that incident, she never would have known about the hole in her heart.

After Hailey was hospitalized with a microstroke, she underwent heart surgery. She had the oval window, a hole in the interatrial septum by which blood is drained, closed. Open oval window can lead to stroke, myocardial infarction and brain disease.

Now the model is gradually returning to normal life and tries not to think about what she was lucky enough to avoid.

She thanked the doctors and all the people who helped her cope with the disease.
