David Crosby, founder of The Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash, dies

14:24, January 20

American singer, songwriter and founding member of rock bands The Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash David Crosby has died at age 81, Variety reported. The reason for the musician's death is not named.

Crosby's death reportedly came as a surprise, including to his Twitter followers: the last post he made on Wednesday, January 18, was a joking comment about heaven.

David Van Cortland Crosby was born August 14, 1941 in Los Angeles, California. As teenagers, David and his brother Ethan began performing in clubs and cafes in Santa Barbara, and in 1964 they met folk singer Roger McGuinn, with whom they formed The Byrds, which became one of the first folk-rock bands.
