Rapper Snoop Dogg and musicians Sade and Teddy Riley will be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the organization's official website announcing.
"The music industry does not exist without songwriters delivering great songs first. Without them there is no recorded music, no concert business, no merch . . . nothing, it all starts with the song and the songwriter. We are therefore very proud that we are continually recognizing some of the culturally most important songwriters of all time," said chairman Nile Rodgers.
He noted that the 2023 nominees differ not only in songwriting prowess, but also in ethnicity, genre and gender. Rodgers said induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame is reserved for musicians who have made a difference in the lives of countless people around the world through their music. The awards ceremony will be held June 15.
