Kering and Gucci have revealed the name of the new creative director of the Italian brand Sabato de Sarno who replaced Alessandro Michele, WWD reported.
The first show de Sarno will be held in September during Milan Fashion Week. The designer will report to the brand's president and CEO, Marco Bizzarri.
“I am delighted that Sabato will join Gucci as the house’s new creative director, one of the most influential roles in the luxury experience,” said Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri, noting his experience “with a number of Italy’s most renowned luxury fashion houses.
De Sarno grew up in Naples. The designer began his career at Prada in 2005, then moved to Dolce & Gabbana before joining Valentino in 2009, where he eventually took over as design director of the men's and women's lines.
De Sarno said he was “touched and excited to contribute my creative vision for the brand,’’ which he said ”has been able to welcome and cherish the values I believe in.”
