10:18 12 August, 2024Tom Cruise made a dramatic entrance at the Paris Olympics closing ceremony. The Mission: Impossible star descended from the top of the Stade de France after H.E.R. sang “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Cameras panned across the top of the building and Cruise’s flight as he descended from the sky toward the athletes.
After navigating through a sea of competitors, Simone Biles and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass handed Cruise a flag to bring back to the States ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. “Thank you, Paris! Now to LA,” Cruise shared on X.
In a pre-recorded clip, Cruise drove around the city and boarded a plane before he made his way to the top of the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, which was now set to display the Olympic rings.
After Cruz showed off Hollywood to the world, the athletes drove through the city before the flag was finally delivered to a Southern California beach, where local Los Angeles band the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed and then Highland Park native Billie Eilish took the stage atop a lifeguard tower.
And “Olympic star” Snoop Dogg returned to the West Coast to perform with fellow legendary hip-hop icon Dr. Dre, welcoming the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
