Elton John: There's not much left of me, to be honest

Elton John is grateful to his family and fans for caring about his health issues.

The 77-year-old singer-songwriter gave an emotional speech while attending the premiere of Elton John: It's Never Too Late at the New York Film Festival, with husband David Furnish and director RJ Cutler.

“There's not much left of me, to be honest. I don't have tonsils, adenoids or appendix. I don't have a prostate. I don't have a right hip, I don't have a left knee, I don't have a right knee. In fact, the only thing left is my left hip. But I'm still here. And I can't thank you enough, the people who made me. I want to thank David, Zachary and Elijah for making me the happiest man in the world,” the idol artist said, referring to his partner and their two sons.

John and Furnish, who entered into a civil partnership in December 2005 and officially tied the knot nine years later, welcomed their eldest son, Zachary, via surrogate in 2010. Their youngest son, Elijah, was born in 2013 via the same surrogate.

“I found complete and utter happiness and bliss when I met David and when I had my children, our children. I’ve never felt happier than I do now. As you know, I’ve decided to stop touring because I’m 77 years old, I’ve done everything I can. I’ve succeeded,” John added of his decision to retire from touring after his final farewell concert at Yellow Brick Road in Stockholm in July 2023.
