Heartbroken Lisa Marie Presley kept her son's body at home for two months after his death

Lisa Marie Presley's posthumous memoir reveals the extent of her grief over the death of her son, Benjamin Keough.

The late singer, who was the only child of singer Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, died last January at the age of 54. Her daughter, actress and musician Riley Keough, completed the book, titled From Here to the Great Unknown, in the months after her death.

In one chapter, Presley admitted that she was so heartbroken over Benjamin's death that she kept his body at her home for two months because she couldn't decide where to bury him.

Benjamin was Presley's son with her first husband, musician Danny Keough. He took his own life in 2020 at the age of 27.

After his death, Lisa struggled to stay alive for the sake of her surviving children, Riley and twin daughters Harper and Finley Lockwood.

"There is no law in the state of California that says you have to bury someone immediately," Presley wrote, revealing that she kept her son's body in the bedroom of the casita, a small building separate from the main house.

Riley and her mother decided to honor Benjamin's memory by getting tattoos. Shortly after they got their tattoos, Riley recalled that everyone felt like Benjamin wanted to be buried. "Even my mom said she felt like he was saying, 'This is crazy, Mom, what are you doing? What the f--k!'" she wrote.
