John F. Kennedy's boxer briefs sell for $9,100 - but Zuckerberg's sweatshirt sells for much more

A pair of briefs worn by former US President John F. Kennedy long before he took over the Oval Office have sold for $9,100.

The ivory cotton boxer briefs, which feature a hand-embroidered label with Kennedy's name, are said to date back to his Navy service in the 1940s. Kennedy famously served as the commander of the PT-109 torpedo boat in the Solomon Islands during World War II, narrowly escaping death after being rammed by a Japanese destroyer.

The presidential briefs were featured in Julien's Auctions' Spotlight: History & Technology earlier this week, SWNS reports.

The auction included also a black hoodie from Alternative Brand, worn by Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg in 2010, when Time magazine had named the tech titan “Person of the Year.”

While it was expected to sell for just $1,000, the bidding eventually rose to a whopping $15,875.

Meanwhile, one of the signature bow ties worn by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs sold for $35,750—thirty-five times its $1,000 estimate.

Jobs is said to have worn a green Wilkes Bashford bow tie with pink stripes at two different photoshoots for the launch of the Macintosh computer in 1984, as well as at the Aspen Conference in 1983 and the annual shareholder meeting in 1984.
