Louis Vuitton unveils the unique Escale au Pont-Neuf Watch — An ode to the brand’s Parisian origins

Louis Vuitton continues to strengthen its position in the world of haute horlogerie with the launch of the second model in its pocket watch collection Escales Autour du Monde. The latest masterpiece, named Escale au Pont-Neuf, is a true example of métiers d’art — the high-level crafts where skill and aesthetics merge seamlessly, reports Robb Report.

Paris in Miniature

The watch dial is a heartfelt tribute to Paris, the city where the brand was born. Beneath the sapphire crystal unfolds a poetic panorama: the legendary Pont-Neuf bridge, the Louis Vuitton headquarters, and the Samaritaine department store. At center stage floats a barge carrying the signature LV trunks down the Seine. And yes — the barge actually moves, with the trunks opening one by one to reveal golden flowers adorned with the brand’s monogram.

Mechanical Magic

Powered by the most complex movement ever created by Louis Vuitton’s La Fabrique du Temps manufacture — caliber LFT AU14.03 — the watch features seven animations and 13 moving parts. Among these are a rotating golden compass, a fluttering bird, and a waving LV flag.

Each element was crafted from the finest layers of gold using bas-relief technique, enhanced with hand-engraved details. The dial is decorated with three types of champlevé enamel in 30 different shades. The enameling alone took over 300 hours of meticulous work.

Jewelry Aesthetics

The 50mm white gold case is set with 60 baguette-cut stones — sapphires, tsavorites, topazes, and diamonds. White gold is also used for the crown, chain, and case back. Interestingly, the watch hands are positioned on the reverse side so as not to interfere with the dial’s animation.

The watch is equipped with a minute repeater — an incredibly complex acoustic mechanism that chimes the hours, quarters, and minutes with a melodious tone. The complete movement consists of 561 components and required an additional 500 hours of assembly.

Art in the Details

The creation of Escale au Pont-Neuf took 2.5 years and over 1,000 hours of handcrafting. The set includes a vintage doctor’s bag inspired by a 1906 model and a unique travel trunk. Price available upon request.
