At the 25th anniversary celebration of the iconic comedy Meet the Parents, fans were treated to more than just nostalgia — Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro officially confirmed that a fourth installment in the beloved franchise is in development.

The event took place at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, where Stiller, De Niro, co-star Teri Polo, and director Jay Roach gathered for a special screening and discussion. The cast shared behind-the-scenes stories and fond memories from filming. Stiller joked that he still hears people shout “Focker!” at him in the street, while Roach recalled that the movie was almost made by Steven Spielberg with Jim Carrey in the lead.

The biggest surprise of the night came with the announcement that Ariana Grande will be joining the cast of the new film. The story will now follow Stiller’s character — now a father of grown children — as he navigates meeting his child’s significant other.

De Niro confirmed that the script is already finished and “genuinely funny.” “I’ve been pitching the idea of another sequel for 15 years,” he shared. “We talked about it during the last film — and now we’re finally doing it.”

The fourth Meet the Parents film is expected to premiere no earlier than 2026.
