22:22 26 June, 2025Tired of endless swiping and disappointments on dating apps like Tinder and Hinge, a growing number of affluent singles are turning to expensive but highly personalized matchmaking services, Bloomberg reports, citing data from leading agencies.
Demand for bespoke partner-matching services is booming. Companies such as NYCity Matchmaking, Kelleher International, and Three Day Rule are reporting record-breaking sales. “Last month was the most successful in our company’s 15-year history,” said Adam Cohen-Aslatei, CEO of Three Day Rule. “Our business isn’t just surviving — it’s thriving.”
Unlike dating apps, where users must scroll through profiles themselves, filter out questionable matches, and risk encountering fake accounts, professional matchmaking offers a deeper level of personalization. Clients undergo thorough background checks, specify preferences including religion, height, and other criteria, and are then matched with compatible candidates for serious relationships or marriage.
The price tag for these services is eye-watering, with some packages costing six figures. Lizzy Guarino told Bloomberg that Three Day Rule offered her a six-month package for $8,900 or a three-month option for $5,900.
By comparison, Tinder’s paid subscriptions are much more affordable — ranging from $25 per month for Tinder Plus up to $500 for the premium Tinder Select. Hinge subscriptions range from $16 to $50 per month. Both apps also offer free versions, albeit with limited features.
However, with higher costs come higher expectations. “If I’m paying that much for a limited number of matches, I’m going to choose very carefully,” Guarino said. Still, no guarantees of success come with the hefty price tags, which can be frustrating given the investment.
That said, success stories do exist. Elliot Galpern, who met his wife through Three Day Rule, says he has no regrets about the expense. His matchmaker helped not only with selecting potential partners but also with choosing outfits for dates and boosting his confidence. So even if you don’t find the love of your life, the moral support can make the experience worthwhile.
