Anna Kournikova makes rare public appearance in Miami with her kids

Six months after she was last seen in a wheelchair, former tennis star Anna Kournikova looked happy and healthy during a recent outing in Miami, according to Hello. The 44-year-old mom of three was spotted shopping at a local supermarket with her children and a friend. Witnesses said Anna seemed fully recovered from her injury as she pushed a grocery cart filled with bags — and even a large cake — back to her car.

Once one of the world’s most famous athletes, Kournikova has kept a low profile in recent years and rarely appears in public. Her last Instagram post dates back to June 2024, when she wished her longtime partner, singer Enrique Iglesias, a Happy Father’s Day. Fans still comment on the post to send birthday wishes — Anna turned 44 on June 7 — and to ask about her and her family’s well-being.

Earlier this year, Anna was photographed at a Miami shopping mall sitting in a wheelchair with her foot in a medical boot, sparking rumors of a serious injury. But her mother-in-law, Spanish socialite Isabel Preysler, later reassured HOLA! magazine that it was just a minor sprain, adding that while such injuries are painful, there was nothing to worry about.

Kournikova retired from professional tennis back in 2003 at just 21 years old due to chronic back problems. “I never planned for it to end that way,” she told People in an interview at the time. “My back forced me to stop — the pain was unbearable; I couldn’t even tie my shoes.”

Anna and Enrique Iglesias have been together since meeting on the set of his Escape music video in 2001. The couple now share three children: seven-year-old twins Nicholas and Lucy, and five-year-old Mary.
