12:03 25 August, 2025Executive producer Shonda Rhimes has officially confirmed how many seasons of the hit series Bridgerton fans can expect. According to Express, speaking at the Edinburgh Film Festival, Rhimes revealed that the show will conclude after eight seasons — with each one dedicated to one of the eight Bridgerton children.
“There are eight children in the series. Violet Bridgerton and all of her children have to get married. So each season is a story of one of them,” Rhimes explained.
So far, Netflix has released three seasons, with the fourth expected in 2026, while seasons five and six have already been greenlit. Rhimes emphasized that the show will continue to closely follow Julia Quinn’s novels, where each child becomes the protagonist of their own love story.
Following the season centered on Colin and Penelope, viewers can look forward to a season focused on Benedict Bridgerton, and later on Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth, and Gregory.
Rhimes also teased the possibility of spin-offs. Since Julia Quinn has written additional novels connected to the Bridgerton universe, more series inspired by those stories could be developed in the future.
