Pop star under fire as fans call out penis-shaped stage design on opening night of tour

Benson Boone's American Heart tour got off to a very memorable start on Friday night, but not entirely for the reasons the singer might have hoped, Daily Mail reports.  

The 23-year-old former American Idol contestant launched his tour at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, where his elaborate stage setup quickly became the talk of social media. 

As Boone strutted across the platform, fans couldn't help but notice its striking, and unfortunate, resemblance to something below the belt.

'Um. Why's it that shaped,' one fan asked bluntly. 

'Are y'all thinking what I'm thinking?' another chimed in. 

'It's giving ball sack,' several users agreed.

Boone, who often wears very tight and sparking outfits, has admitted he has been inspired by  70s and 80s pop stars such as Freddie Mercury and Elton John.
