A new chapter for Bottega Veneta: Louise Trotter’s debut

Louise Trotter’s debut at Bottega Veneta was more than just a runway show—it was a statement that fashion can be both grounded and elevated.

The designer approached the brand’s archives with the precision of a historian. “I love that Bottega is a workshop,” she explained. Before joining Bottega Veneta, Trotter had already built a reputation as a quiet perfectionist in the fashion world, with stints at Joseph, Lacoste, and most recently, Carven.

During her first nine months at the house, Trotter drew inspiration from the Intrecciato technique, using it as a source of energy rather than nostalgia. “The language of Bottega Veneta is Intrecciato,” she said. “It’s two woven straps that become stronger together. Collaboration and connectivity run through the entire history of the house, from its founding to today.”

The Spring/Summer 2026 collection showcased lightness and precision in tailoring, often accentuating the waist. Nappa leather pieces flowed like water, even in straighter silhouettes, while evening dresses and low-waist skirts moved gracefully with every step. Menswear logic was applied to womenswear without sacrificing femininity.

The color palette was predominantly neutral, punctuated by vibrant pops in outerwear.

Accessories reinforced the theme of craftsmanship and the time invested in each piece: the Lauren bag took on bold shapes, the Knot bag emphasized a relaxed aesthetic, and the Cabat transformed into a clutch.

Trotter’s debut communicated a seamless blend of heritage and modernity, reaffirming Bottega Veneta’s identity as a house where technique, elegance, and thoughtful design converge.
