Chanel revives an icon: Première Bangle combines watch and bracelet in couture style

Following the 2022 relaunch of the Première watch, inspired by Chanel’s horological history, Arnaud Chastaingt, director of the watchmaking creation studio, turned to a signature element from the house’s couture atelier: the braided motif.

Debuting Wednesday, the Chanel Première Galon places the brand’s iconic octagonal dial onto an 18-karat gold bangle, echoing the twists of a silk braid, reports WWD.

“This introduces a new way to wear the Première collection,” Chastaingt explained, blending haute couture spirit with wearable elegance. For the first time in Première’s history, the watch comes on a rigid bracelet, with floating hands on a black lacquer dial devoid of indices or numerals—a nod to the 1987 bracelet-inspired concept.

For this design, showcased at Watches and Wonders 2025, Chastaingt drew inspiration from the trims Gabrielle Chanel used as early as the 1910s on her signature suits, highlighting edges, decorating pockets and wrists. The decorative details reinforced the structure of the silhouette, merging form and function with sophistication.

In recent weeks, the new design has been spotted on house ambassadors including Jennie Kim of Blackpink, singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, Kristen Stewart, and Marion Cotillard.

Prices start at €15,500 for the 18-karat gold version.
